2024 Trends Advice for Comms Leaders
Insights and recommendations from 90 of the nation’s top communicators
We're about to enter another complex year.
At October’s Mixing Board (Live) conference in Austin, our community of comms and brand marketing experts broke into groups to dive deeper into eight big priorities that comms execs will face in 2024.
Together with Axios HQ, we distilled key insights and recommendations from these conversations and co-created this 2024 Trends Report.
At the event, we asked: What can we anticipate, plan for, and help any leader get ahead of now?
The outcome: Eight priority focus areas and more than 37 recommendations from a room of 90 experts.
One topic included in the report, and one that is deeply debated within our community, is about the ever blurring lines between comms and marketing functions. Here’s what event attendees had to say:
The report also covers the election, AI in the workplace, the state of the economy, burnout, engaging frontline workers, news and trust, and ESG. Our hope is that this can help with ideas, considerations and inspiration for 2024 planning of your own.

We’re quite grateful to our partners at Axios HQ for helping capture the wisdom shared in Austin and making it available to others in the industry. Mixing Board’s goal is to raise the value of our work and those who do it. We hope this is a step in that direction.
